Thank you to everyone that entered the Fagor America 6 qt. LUX Multi Cooker giveaway. I appreciate all the sweet comments, and enjoyed reading what you would cook first in your new pressure cooker. The winner of the giveaway was Jerri B. Jerri said she would make “Pork Chops and Gravy or Pork Carnitas” first if she won.
To help Jerri and everyone else that has put the LUX on their wish list get started using their new pressure cooker, I’ve created a video tutorial.
How to Use the Fagor Lux Multi Cooker
The video shows how to use many of the functions of this great, new pressure cooker, as well as teaches you how to make one of my family’s favorite meals, Beef and Broccoli.

it seems like everything I make burns. I use extra liquid & it is not very thick and it is not even half full??? It seems like it takes 20 min. to come up to pressure & I think that is much too long. One meal was beef stroganoff ( no noodles in pot) and the second was chicken marsala. I start with a lot of liquid, but it is gone when I release pressure & meat is burned on bottom. Please Help…
I have had a Fargo Lux Multi for several months. Been trying to find a manual. I don’t know where to start. I’ve looked at several sites and finally found a manual…….but, it was in French. Argh!,
Hi Kay – here’s the link to download the manual. https://www.fagoramerica.com/media/files/lux_multi_cooker_manual2 It includes French, Spanish and English
I made the beef curry in my Lux (delicious!). First I tried to use the stainless steel insert I purchased and steam started coming out of the pot after I started it. I’m a newbie, but know that’s not normal, so I quickly turned it off and released all the built up pressure. Then I poured everything into the ceramic pot. Long story to my question: Can you use a stainless steel insert in the Lux? Does it have to be inside the removable non-stick ceramic insert? I don’t want that to happen again!
Hi Lynn – was the stainless steel insert specifically made for the LUX? Most of the pots are not interchangeable amongst brands.
I have not been. Able to get my brown rice to cook right in my Fagor mmk multi pot. What are the measurement I need to use for perfect brown rice+?
Hi Betty – what kind of brown rice are you using? This recipe works for me every time https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/pressure-cooker-brown-rice-and-a-giveaway/
Where did you get your steamer basket?
Hi Stacey – from Amazon. There’s links to all my favorite pressure cooker accessories in this post. https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/best-pressure-cooker-accessories/
Barbara, I was wondering if you have any advice on making yogurt with the Lux. When I push the yogurt button the default time is not 8 hours as stated in the manual but only 30 minutes–it can be lowered in 1 minute increments but not increased above 30. I cooked it for the 30 minutes but now I am wondering if I can continue to cook it or if I have to start all over again.
Hi Kathy – I contacted Fagor for you since I’ve only made in once before and here’s their response: “I have made yogurt several times and the default time is 8 hours. It might be that the customer is pressing a different setting? Before going into the Yogurt function the milk needs to be heat up at 185 degrees, the lower setting of the Slow Cooking option. Then it has to cool down to 110 F and at that point you add the culture or starter yogurt and press the yogurt function. If the customer wants to shoot a short video so we can take a look that would be great.”
Thanks Barbara. We did follow the instructions for slow cooking to heat up the milk and then cooling it, but then when we tried the yogurt function it only reads 30 mins. There is only one button for that function, as you know, so I don’t know how we could be mixed up. I have an inquiry in to Fagor to resolve–wish we all could get such speedy feedback from them! Thanks again.
Hello! I cooked brown rice in the fagor but it beeped during the entire process. Is this normal? Thanks for your help.
Hi Rochelle – No, it’s not normal – I’d contact the company about it.
hi rochelle! did you ever get a resolution to your problem? mine is doing the same thing.
Barbara, thank you so much for this video! I have always been intimidated by pressure cookers and I just bought the Fagor LUX Multi-Cooker. I liked the fact that that it had a ceramic cooking pot (not Teflon).
I am so glad I googled and found your website! So far I have used it twice and I can’t wait to try more recipes.
Thanks Mika! I’m so glad you found me too. That ceramic cooking pot is really nice. Have fun!
I made your pork carnitas recipe with my brand spankin’ new Fagor Lux and it was delicious! I’ve also made jasmine rice with it and it worked great for that too. My next two purchases will be a veggie steamer with the handle and another pot insert. I love my Fagor PC!
Thanks for letting me know Anne. It really is a great pressure cooker. Have fun!
I received a Fagor PC for Christmas, haven’t delved into it yet but anxious to do so. Happy to fall over your site. It’s nice to be using the same PC as you, especially when it’s a new way of cooking. Cheers
Welcome Vivian – congratulations on your new PC. Have fun!
Love the video and congrats to Jerri! Someday a pressure cooker will be mine!! 🙂
Barbara, I have been a follower for a long time; as well as a subscriber to emails and LOVE your recipes. My pressure cooker needs upgrading and I was wondering if you have a favorite of the two cooker’s you have recently tested – the Fagor America 670041880 LUX Multi Cooker or the Instant Pot IP-DUO60 7-in-1 Programmable Pressure Cooker.
Thanks in advance for your input.
LeAnn
Hi LeAnn – I think you’re going to love the new electric pressure cookers. The LUX and Instant Pot are very similar and I highly recommend them both.
The Instant Pot comes with a stainless cooking pot, which I prefer because I like to be able to scrub the pot and not worry about scratching, but if you prefer non-stick pots, because clean up is easier, then you might be happier with the LUX.
I do like the browning, saute, and simmer buttons on the LUX better than using the saute and adjust button for simmer and browning functions on the Instant Pot.
The LUX beeps when it comes to pressure, which I find helpful.
Also, I like the LUX manual better than the Instant Pot, although the recipes in the Instant Pot manual I prefer over the LUX (there’s even a couple of mine in the downloadable recipes.)
You really can’t go wrong either way.
You convinced me to buy the Fagor until I researched and found it is manufactured in China. SO disappointed.
Thanks for your help,
LeAnn
What a great video Barbara-you always do such a fabulous job explaining things. I know the video you did on the Cuisinart Pressure Cooker was invaluable to me when I first got mine.
Congratulations Jerri-enjoy that gorgeous pressure cooker! So many handy functions on that one.
I can’t wait to try that beef and broccoli-that’s one of Bob’s favorites.
Thank you Barbara 🙂
Awwww thanks Carol! I hope Bob loves it.
