Fagor America LUX Multi Cooker Review
Fagor America recently sent me their new LUX 6 qt. Multi Cooker to review. They also offered to give away a LUX Multi Cooker to one lucky Pressure Cooking Today reader! Details on how you can win are at the bottom of this post.
The new LUX All-in-One Multi Cooker is a Pressure Cooker, a Slow Cooker, a Rice Cooker and even has a Yogurt Making program. It has 12 preset programs: Pressure Cook (high & low), Slow Cook (high & low), Yogurt, White rice, Brown rice, and Risotto programs, as well as Simmer, Sauté, Steam and Brown settings.
The LUX, like other electric pressure cookers, is set-it-and-forget-it easy. It’s super safe, super quiet, has very little evaporation, and automatically switches to the keep warm setting when the pressure cooking time is up.
One feature that the LUX has that the other pressure cookers don’t, is it beeps when it reaches pressure and the timer starts counting down. I like to stay in the kitchen until the cooker reaches pressure just in case I forgot to put the valve in the pressure position. So it’s nice to hear that beep and know it’s at pressure.
Another advantage of the LUX is the User Manual. The instructions are well written, easy to follow, and there’s less contradictory information given. For example, some pressure cooking manuals state you shouldn’t pressure cook certain ingredients, such as apples, barley or steel cut oats because they foam. Then they list the cook time in the chart or have a recipe for that ingredient. The LUX manual has a note explaining not to fill the pressure cooker more than half way full when cooking these items, but doesn’t discourage cooking the ingredient.
The LUX manual also lists different amounts of minimum required liquid. For example, it recommends a minimum of 1 cup for steaming vegetables, but for pressure cooking fruits recommends using only one half cup of water because the cooking time is very short.
The manual says the LUX cooks at 9psi on high pressure. I was a little concerned about that because the Instant Pot states it cooks at 11 psi and the Cuisinart at 10psi. So I asked the representative about the lower psi and she said the factory engineers said, “there is some fluctuation on the pressure and 9 psi is the average. Honestly almost all electric pressure cookers work with very similar pressure settings.” I used the LUX exclusively for two weeks and found the cook time on my recipes was the same time need in the Lux as for the Instant Pot and Cuisinart.
I was surprised that the pressure regulating knob is a lot lighter than the knobs on the other electric pressure cookers I use. The representative said it’s made of a newer plastic material which is lighter and more durable.
The LUX doesn’t come with a trivet nor a steamer basket, but Fagor America is developing them and they will be available shortly.
I prefer a stainless pressure cooking pot so I can scrub it and don’t have to worry about scratching it. The LUX doesn’t come with a stainless steel, but does come with a fun dark blue, ceramic nonstick pot instead of a Teflon pot. The advantage of the ceramic cooking pot that is easy to clean and PFOA free.
Fagor America sells a stainless steel pot as an accessory. So if you like the features of the LUX but want a stainless steel pot, you can buy an additional pot for the cooker. In fact, I’m sure you’ll like having two pots.
I was really impressed with the Fagor America LUX 6 quart Multi Cooker and highly recommend it.
Disclosure: I received a free Fagor America LUX Multi Cooker to review, but was not compensated for this post and all opinions expressed are always my own.
Can I bake a cake in Fagor?
You can steam bake a cake pot in pot https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/how-to-use-the-pot-in-pot-method-in-your-pressure-cooker-instant-pot/ https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/chocolate-cake-for-two/
My Fagor pressure cooker died after a year. While I had it, I loved its functionality. The company had gone out of business, 1-800….. is not a working numbers. It’s time to try another brand!
Sorry it died. American Fagor is now Zavor. I’ll be doing a review of the Zavor soon.
I tried making rice and the cooker just kept beeping. What did I do wrong?
Cheri
Hi Cheri – was the lid closed? It will keep beeping if the lid isn’t locked in place.
Yes. Pressure went up. I’m wondering if it was because I didn’t have much rice in the cooker. Only 1/2 cup….
Hi –
I was curious if I was doubling the risotto recipe or adding peas to it should I double the recommended cook? Should I reduce the liquid since peas contain a fare amount of water?
Hi Jennifer – no need to increase the time when making double the risotto. I wouldn’t change the liquid if adding peas.
While the pressure cook function works, the simmer and sauté functions are way too weak and strong respectively. If you put simmer function on, it doesn’t simmer, no bubbles. But if you pick sauté or brown to do it, it heavily boils. To cook down the liquid, you have to take everything out of the pot. Too bad, defeats the purpose of a one-pot design.
Hi Chris – I always use the browning setting to brown meats, saute for sauteing onions, and the simmer setting for thickening sauces – it works for me. If I’m trying to reduce a sauce and it’s boiling too fast, I’ll pull the pot up a little bit away from the heat source on the bottom of the pressure cooker. Hope that helps.
I’m deciding whether to purchase the Fagor Lux, but I’m concerned about the keep warm phase beeping. You mentioned that it beeps once when switching to Keep Warm automatically. Does it then beep once at regular intervals while releasing pressure or ongoing for the 12 hour keep warm phase? Another reviewer said it was quite annoying.
The beeping will continue for 5 minutes then shut off. If you are not home, you will never hear it so it won’t annoy you. If you are home, simply turn off the pressure cooking mode then turn on the keep warm mode, it will beep once then stop.
Anyone have experience with brown rice feature? Mine defaults to 30 minutes, which is longer than any other recommendations.
Hi Mary – here’s how I like to cook my rice https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/pressure-cooker-brown-rice-and-a-giveaway/
I love my new Fagor Lux 8qt and have made many really good dishes. I need some help with a few dishes though.
I’ve tried plain chickpeas twice and burned them both times. I want to cook them from dried, covered with water once and another time with a 3:1 ratio of water:beans – used recommended pressure cooking time, put on high. They completely burned.
Tonight, made short ribs, but had to stop it when I smelled burning, put on low and add a cup of water. I used a pressure cooker recipe and did have liquids already in the dish, just not enough, I guess.
Now, a soup and a gravy and pork chop recipe came out great, directly following the recipe.
I’m confused as to what I need to adjust – add water if there isn’t already at least say 1 cup already in the recipe? Cook on low pressure even if says high?
Thanks!
Hi Carole – it makes me wonder if sometimes you aren’t getting a good seal. Do you see steam coming out around the sides of the lid so times?
Hello. I have a brand new Lux multi-cooker that won’t come up to pressure and steam comes out around the seal on the lid. I have taken it off, removed the seal, and cleaned it, but it’s still does the same thing. Is this a defect? Should I return?
Hi April – if you’re certain that the gasket is in place properly, then I would contact Fagor http://www.fagoramerica.com/about_us/contact_us. Good luck!
Can you tell me how long it takes to reach pressure? I let min run for 40 minutes and it never beeped or counted down. Not sure what I am doing wrong.
Hi Heather – it depends on what you’re cooking. If you’re cooking a big pot of soup then it could take 40 minutes to come to pressure but for most things only about 5 to 10 minutes. Have you tried bringing it to pressure with just a cup of water. Do you have the valve in the closed position/pressure position? Could you feel the pot getting hot and trying to come to pressure?
5 to 10 minutes!? I have only cooked frozen chicken breasts in mine with broth, but it always takes nearly 20minutes to pressurize. Is that not normal?
Hi Erin – 20 minutes doesn’t sound excessive for frozen breasts to come to pressure.
I have a question, can you use the pressure cooker for canning vegetables, pickles and fruits. My pressure cooker is similar to those shown. Is their a canning book I can purchase. Thank you Bonnie
Hi Bonnie – here’s a good article about why you shouldn’t using your pressure cooker for canning with the except of hot-water canning http://www.hippressurecooking.com/consumer-alert-no-pressure-canning-in-un-tested-multi-cookers/
I loved mine until it died about 18 months in … so disappointing for a $160 appliance (I had the 8 qt version.)
Hi Deidre – that is the pits for sure. Did you contact the company to see about getting it fixed?
I LOVE MY FAGOR LUX MULTI-POT! I wasn’t sure at first but I went to Sur la Table on a Saturday when they were doing a demo and tasted the mushroom risotto they made. I was hooked! I came home and duplicated their recipe and was in heave! Delicious and so easy. Since then I’ve made chicken stock using chicken feet and bones from the local farmer’s market. I’ve made black bean chili which was equally good. It is a great way to cook for either one or a family. I am single but even with that in mind I bought the 8 quart. I’d rather make the mess only once and cook for a while than make the mess more often. The pot is easy to clean and there is no mess at all since you can brown or saute whatever you need in the same pot as you cook in. Love, love, love my Fagor!
Thanks for sharing Patricia – I agree, it’s a great pressure cooker. I also agree I’d rather cook once and eat several times.
I used my Fagor Multi Cooker for the first time last week and loved it. I’m a novice for sure. I will say though that I think it’s a good idea to take notes on the meals you cook in it so that you know whether or not you need to add or reduce time in cooking that recipe. In my case, I cooked pinto beans (unsoaked) for 30 minutes and while they had a delicious taste, I wanted them a little more tender. So I’ll either soak them or add a little time the next attempt. Over all, my first time was fabulous and I was very impressed.
Hi Felicia – you’re absolutely right. Keeping a journal of what times work for you with your pressure cooker and at your altitude, the cuts of meat you used, etc. will definitely making using your pressure cooker much easier.
MIne died after light use in 30 days….they are sending me a new one and seemed very prompt but seriously questioning the quality.
Hi Heather – that’s disappointing. I’ve had mine for about a year now without a problem. Hopefully, the new one works as well for you. Fagor has been selling pressure cookers for a long time. Glad to hear their customer service was good.
I bought 3 of these for Christmas gifts. Never beeps and timer doesn’t work
Have you tried contacting Fagor? They’re a well established, reputable company. 1-800-207-0806
I just purchased this appliance and the brown rice function beeped during the entire time cooking. Is this normal? Thanks for your help.
No – I’d contact the company about it.
Does this do as well for slow cooking. I dont use a pressure cooker as much as slow cooker?
Hi Leslie – I haven’t used the slow cooker function since I’m always developing new pressure cooker recipes and prefer the results I get with pressure cooking.
How long does it take to release pressure when cooking rice (i.e., the slowest pressure release method)?
Emily
Hi Emily – if you turn the pressure cooker off it should release all the pressure in about 15 minutes when cooking rice.
I’m also curious as to which you prefer between the Fagor Lux and the Instant Pot. Especially the yogurt feature. Watching the Instant Pot video, it looks like it scalds the milk for you and will beep when it’s ready, whereas you have to monitor the temperature of the milk in the Fagor.
Hi Matt – I’ve never made yogurt, so I can’t compare the two on that aspect. They’re both excellent pressure cookers. I don’t think you could go wrong either way.
Very interesting.
I’ve never think about ceramic pot in pressure cooking because the pot has to resist for high pressure level.
(I prefer stainless pot) But this blue pot looks strong.
How about comparing to Instant Pot? Is it better?
Congratz to Jerri B. 🙂
I’ve never used a pressure cooker but would like to try it. I remember my grandmother used one to make carrots with. They were so delicious.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE THE CERAMIC COOKING POT!!!
What a great machine! I would make yogurt.
Love the features of this unit, especially the yogurt! I would make oxtails with navy beans or osso bucco. Thanks for the great giveaway!!! Would be thrilled if I won
I would make pork chops if I win. They sound delicious.
smokey beef briscut
I so need this, i burned my last one up because i hadit sitting on my ce ramic stove and someone turned on the wrong burner. I used mine allll the time. I think I would make bbq chicken sandwhiches with it if I win.
What a great little machine! Everything you need in one appliance.. That would be perfect on these hot days. Dont have to heat up the kitchen. I would make that steamed pudding. It sounds right up my alley.
love that ceramic pot!!!
This looks exactly like what I need!
I would make https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/pressure-cooker-tapioca-pudding/ since I love tapioca pudding, but hate the stirring.
I have had a pressure cooker on my wish list for so long! I would love one!
I would love to make rice, quinoa…fluffy grains!
Amazing it even has a yogurt feature!
Really hard to pick just one. I love pressure cooking. Probably would do a roast first
With the hot days of summer approaching, this would be a nice way to keep the house cool and still make a nice healthy meal for the family!
I would love to have one for quick meals after work. Pot roast is a favorite.
I can think of SO many recipes to make in this pressure cooker! Miss my big cooker but this one would also allow me to make rice. Bingo!
Mac and Cheese for my kiddos!
I’d make your BBQ Meatloaf!
I’d make the Meyer Lemon Cheesecake first, I know it would be a hit with the whole family.
I would love to win and try this out.
I might make a big pot of beans to enjoy and freeze. I know so exciting.
Bread! I’ve always wanted to try pressure cooker bread!
I’d make my cousin’s amazing potroast!
I would make make stew and rice and pretty much everything i could try!!! I really really want one!!!
When we bought our new house, it came with a glass top stove. I’m a big pressure cooker fan, so I was totally shocked the first time I tried to use mine on the glass top stove. Turns out the bottom wasn’t completely flat which is necessary when cooking on these types of stoves. Therefore, the cooker shook like crazy and never came up to pressure. I would be so thrilled to win the Fagor America LUX so I could start pressure cooking again. I would love to make my Mom’s pressure cooker stew recipe that we all used to love. Thank you for this opportunity!
I don’t know! Grape jelly for my husband, maybe
I can’t believe how many times I follow a link from Facebook pressure cooker groups for a new recipe and find it is another one of your recipes. I can’t wait to add an electric model to my stovetop model. It would be so much easier than what my bad stove allows.
That’s so nice of you to let me know people are sharing my recipes in FB groups. Good luck!
I’d try ribs
Pasta
I would make slow cooker french toast first.
I love your honest reviews. I rarely use a pressure cooker but my parents used theirs for almost every meal. I should get back to my roots.
I have been researching Electric Pressure Cookers and have heard the best about Fagor or Instant Pot. I would love to try tapioca pudding or boiled eggs, but I have loved the recipes you have posted. The time-saving features and health benefits sold me. I can’t wait to see if I win. Thanks for all of your time and effort! Jeannie,
Freeport, IL
I would make pulled pork.
I take it back. I want to try that Meyer Lemon Cheesecake….right now.
A delicious mushroom risotto. I just read through the other comments and realized I am not alone in that. There must be a shortage of mushroom risotto in the world. Yum!
I’d make short ribs
Your recipes and techniques are awesome. I have come to trust your judgement and reviews. My next pressure cooker will be the one you just reviewed.
P.S. Your cheesecake recipe is to die for!
Thanks so much Tom! That means so much to me. Good luck!
I have never had risotto and would love trying it.
I would try a mushroom risotto
Biriyani or risotto!
Rice Pudding!
I’d definitely try risotto first!
I have been using standard pressure cookers for 40 years. My mother and my aunt used them also, so I knew what an asset they are to a cook.
I would love to make spaghetti sauce in this Lux and see how it works. Then I’d make a slow cooker Swiss steak. I’d love to try all the functions.
Brunswick Stew! Have always wanted a pressure cookie for my hubby AND to make this.
Thanks!
I’ve never made anything in a pressure cooker, but I’d love to see a cheesecake in one!
The first thing I would like to make is fried chicken. I had a stove top pressure cooker years ago that was given to me for a wedding gift. My first experience was fried chicken. It turned out great but boy, I was scared to be in the kitchen when it was under pressure. Reading the review from Barbara makes me want to try it again but this time with the new technology the LUX Multi Cooker has to offer.
The first thing I would make if I won this pressure cooker is a turkey soup. I have an old small electric pressure cooker and when I did a turkey carcass, carrots, celery, onions and water of course, for about 45 – 60 minutes I had best turkey stock ever. Strained it, chilled it and it had solidified so much you could have cut it with a knife. Tasted so rich. Made the best turkey vegetable soup I ever had.
Would love to make Indian style mixed lentils or some steel cut oatmeal
I would probably try something basic like rice first.
Love the blog and would love to win this to make some great chicken tortilla soup!
I would probably make boiled eggs. Boring, but I eat so many that it is a good practice round.
Pot roast with potatoes and carrots
I have a stove top pressure cooker already and use it mainly for meats. Would use the Fagor for making bbq pork ribs or beef short ribs first thing to see the comparison.
My mom used to have a stovetop pressure Cooker, I would love to have a electric one for the RV.
I do have a stovetop pressure cooker but would love an electric. Plus this one has so many extras. I have never tried Indian Butter Chicken in a PC and would love to try it.
I would make pulled pork.
This cooker sounds wonderful and I believe I would cook Country Style Venison in it first.
I am trying my hand at canning this year, and would try that first!
Hi Lisa – this is not a pressure canner. You’ll need a large stovetop pressure canner for that.
I am a pressure cooking novice. I would like to make some succulent ribs
Pulled pork
Short ribs or beans just can’t decide.
I want to cook some garbanzo beans for hummus and I prefer starting with dry beans. I usually cook a pound, use half or a third and freeze the rest.
I have a pressure cooker recipe for porcupine meatballs that my mom made when I was a kid. I’d make that. Memories
I have wanted a pressure cooker forever! In fact, I subscribe to your blog (and your other!)t for when I am finally able to get one. I would love to make your Samoa cheesecake…but really, the 4 min potatoes would wow me just as much!!! Thanks!! 🙂
Split pea soup
I would make a pasta recipe since pasta can go in raw and doesn’t have to be pre-cooked!
If I were lucky enough to win a 6-Quart Fagor America LUX Multi Cooker, the first thing I would cook would be Braised Short Ribs!
My mom always made Chow Mein in her pressure cooker. I’d make that, it would be a total blast from the past! Then I would use it for all kinds of things!
I would make brown rice – all the time!
Now that summer has come around I can lots of vegetables and make jam. This would be perfect for my family and easy to use.
Barbara,
I’d make a chicken recipe. Thanks for the great giveaway.
Annamaria
I’ve never used a pressure cooker before, but I would try to make a split-pea soup!
Wow! Sounds amazing!! I’ve wanted to try pressure cooking as a way to save time but still feed my family real, healthy food. I’d probably start simple with beans or brown rice and then move on to actual meals!
I’d be making stuffed peppers.
I’ve wanted to start canning vegetables like green beans. That would be my first recipe!
Hi Linda – you’ll need a large stove top pressure cooker for canning.
I would love to try cooking with a pressure cooker I’ve never used one or eaten anything made in one sounds like a great way to cook.
I’m already thinking of the countless ways I could put this to use while our kitchen gets renovated.
I would make chili first.
If I was to use the pressure cooker for a meal tonight, I would make a good piece of beef with onion gravy along side of pressure cooked potatoes and beans.
I would love to have one of these, it sounds like a quality, time saving appliance. thanks for the opportunity to win one!
Mary L
Making my own yogurt would be awesome, this is quite the handy tool. I love multi-functional equipment!
FYI – I get your email updates sent to jefflammers at rocketmail dot com.
I would LOVE to win this!!!
I have a recipe for cabbage rolls that I have been meaning to make again. The Fagor would be a great means of accomplishing that. Many years ago I had one of the old style pressure cookers that I used constantly until one day the gasket gave out when I was making spaghetti sauce and the sauce went everywhere – ceiling, walls and floor. Funny now, but what a mess to clean up! 🙂 I’d love to win this one as I do miss using a pressure cooker.
I could not fine the give away entry at the bottom of your post. Great review though!
Hi Teresa – you enter using the Rafflecopter widget which is right about the Disclosure statement. Some times it is slow to load and you just have to wait for it. Good luck!
I would make a nice beef stew, and really need a pressure cooker in my life, have never ever owned one lol I know, I’m old school like that 😉
This is the pressure cooker I thought I ordered… would love to have this one! The first thing I would cook is chicken kale soup! So looking forward to winning this awesome pressure cooker!
Would love to try one!
I would try pepper steak or cooking a whole chicken for chicken noodle soup.
I have the regular Fagor electric pressure cooker and can’t live without it. This one seems even more amazing!! Would love to have one!!
a pulled pork! yum! thanks for the chance to win!
Joey
Broasted Chicken!
I’m not sure which recipe I’d make first. I’ve always wanted to try using a pressure cooker but have been a bit intimidated.
Growing up my mother and grandmother used pressure cookers but I was always afraid of them. I would love the opportunity to try this new technology and perhaps make some jams and sauces.
I would love to make a pork roast
Rice would be a good test.
Would love to try this with some of my dried bean recipes. Maybe lentils also.
I would have to say my chili recipe. It’s got to be just the right consistency, not too thick and definitely not thin. I haven’t used a pressure cooker since I was a teenage and helped my Mom with hers ( the old fashioned ones). With all this ones different uses it has, it would be a dream for me to win this !!!
I would make a pot roast. Thanks for the chance to win.
Chicken should be great !
I’d like to make chicken mole.
I would try a pot roast first thing
The first thing I would make would be the red beans for Red Beans and Rice. I’ve been craving some lately so that would be the perfect thing to try out a new pressure cooker with! Thanks for the opportunity and Please, Pick Me!
I would make either Pork Chops and Gravy or Pork Carnitas. Yummy !!!
pot roast i will be making cause i love that the most
I would try pulled pork.
The recipe that I would make first in my new Fagor America Lux Multi 6 qt cooker would be some Chicken & Dumplings and then a Apple Crisp for Desert.
My crock pot just died. It sounds like the multi-use machine, the Fagor America LUX Multi-Cooker would be a great replacement.
I never used a pressure cooker because they were scary. These look easier to use. Your Carrot Cake Oatmeal is what I’d like to try.
I have been wanting a multi use pressure cooker! The 1st thing I would make would be some good ole red beans and rice, then I have a ton of recipes I would try out!
As boring as this sounds, I’d probably make a batch of yogurt first. I’d love to try so many things in this.
I have a ton of pressure cooking recipes saved just waiting for me to save up for one – I’d love to win one instead!
I would look through your recipes and pick out one with beans – I would love to be able to cook them more quickly….
I have wanted an electric pressure cooker for quite a long time. My friend makes the best BBQ ribs in her pressure cooker and has given me the recipe. That is what I would make.
I would love to make a roast with potaoes and carrots.
i would make pull pork
I think I would make the Pork Carnitas in the Pressure Cooker recipe from this very site!
rice!!
I’d try making my shred chuck roast for BBQ
What a great review! I would definitely try making yogurt, since that would be a first for me. How lucky for you to be able to play with several different pressure cookers.
The first thing I would fix, if I won, would be Jambalya! Sure, hope I win. Good luck everyone.
I would love to make yogurt in the new Lux!
Beef stroganoff would be great.
I really like tomatoe soup. Next up would be a cheesecake. Followed by potato salad.. thanks for the chance to win.
I would try the lemon cheesecake recipe first if I won the Fagor cooker.
*WOW!* I have been wanting this appliance since the moment I saw it about a week ago!! It would be such an asset and would be used regularly!! ~ I make a mean Pot Roast (slow cooker) and my Mother’s Chop Suey recipe (pressure cooker) is “da bomb”! 🙂
If I won the Fagor multicooker I would try the beef stroganoff. I have a stove top PC and enjoy that, but I must stand with it. Fingers crossed.
*WOW!* I have been wanting this appliance since the moment I saw it about a week ago!! It would be such an asset and would be used regularly!! 🙂
If I were to win a Fagor the first thing I’d make would be my “BBQ” (with quick broil) beef ribs
Btw, I wish I’d found this site before buying other cook books as the recipes here have been great.
We would boil eggs first and love how easy they are to peel.
The ole mainstay… “Chicken Teriyaki” using boneless chicken thighs, soy sauce, and crushed pineapples.
I love the Cuisinart Pressure Cooker you recommended but sure wouldn’t mind trying this one!!
Red beans and sausage served over rice!
My favorite pressure cooker recipes involve cooking some type of dry beans with brined meat. I’d probably go with chicken and the Scarlet Runner Beans I ordered from Rancho Gordo.
BBQ Ribs!!!! I can never get them to be tender – this should be the way!!
Coconut Curry Chicken and Rice
I have always wanted to try making yogurt from scratch but have been skeptical of all of the methods and recipes I have seen so far. I would love for to try it out in this!
Seems very easy to use, so thanks for sharing with us. I would love to try some quick chicken dinner recipes in this.
Brown rice, then chicken and barley!
A roast. To me they are much more tender from a pressure cooker then slow roasting in the oven. Once the roast was resting, I would make white rice and see how well it does in the cooker.
I would make something with the pork tenderloin thats waiting to be cooked.
I WOULD MAKE MY GRANDMA’S GROUND VEGETABLE BEEF SOUP FIRST. THAT IS MY FAVORITE SOUP OF ALL TIME.
Looks interesting. I was always sure my mom’s pressure cooker was going to explode.
This looks great. To have an appliance that replaces several large ones would be awesome.
I love this sleek, new Fagor pressure cooker – AND the PressureCookingToday site that taught me the genus of pressure cooking.
As a harried, single mom to little boy (whose gourmet tastes belie his age!) I marvel that I can make healthier, inexpensive restaurant-grade meals in just minutes. Fagor’s blue ceramic insert looks like a breeze to clean and would also allow me to take our meal from pressure cooker to table for a presentation even fit for company.
I’m a huge fan of many of your recipes but it’d be a toss-up whether I’d inaugurate my new Fagor pressure cooker with either your roasted cauliflower barley risotto (made it twice!) or your delicious Tomatillo Chicken Soup with Hominy (made it countless times including for my neighbor down the hall who’s “obsessed” with it).
To all my friends I’ve been extolling the virtues of Pressure Cooking, I’d happily bequeath one of them – probably another harried single mum – my old pressure cooker so I could upgrade to the elite Fagor machine. I would be so happy. Cheers!
I have a wonderful recipe for BBQ ribs made in a pressure cooker and it would be the first recipe I’d make in the Fagor if I win.
I really enjoy cooking with the pressure cooker, and love how things come out.I would love a chance to win and try this new one!!
Ribs! I’m dying to try it
I have really enjoyed several recipes from your website. My family loves the Spicy honey garlic chicken! It may very well be the first to try on the Fagor PC.
That rice looks perfect! What an awesome gadget! I would definitely make shredded fajita chicken first which is so yum! It’s great on tacos, nachos, fajitas- you name it! Perfect for this hot weather in Georgia! xo
This looks awesome! I’d love to make your baked bean recipe.
I SURE NEED A NEW PRESSURE COOKER MINE WAS MY GRANDMA IN LAWS, OVER 70 YEARS OLD. AND I USE MINE EVERY WEEK.
EVERYONE KEEPS TELLING ME TO BUY A SLOW COOKER AND I JUST CAN’T DO IT. LOVE MY PRESTO PRESSURE COOKERS.
I don’t think you’d be happy with a slow cooker when you know how great food tastes made in the pressure cooker.
I love the ease of pressure cooking with my stovetop Fagor. First recipe in the electric version will be……… hmmm, ribs?
I’d for sure head over to my pressure cooker Pinterest board and make one of the ones I’ve pinned from you–probably the Cafe Rio sweet pork tostadas!
Thanks Em! I really appreciate your support.
I’d probably give it a test run with a big batch of chickpeas or beans first!
I would love to make yogurt. Awesome I can replace some of the other machines I use because this one does it all. I have a friend from Spain and she told me she makes Flan in her pressure cooker. When you get the
trivet made will that be able to be use to set glass bowls on to cook Flan?
Hi Linda – yes, you will be able to use glass bowls. Here’s a link to my flan recipe https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/quick-and-easy-hazelnut-flan-in-the-pressure-cooker/
I will make simple vegetable biryani. This cooker sounds too good for making biryanis
Artichokes prepared are easier and more tasty then ever using my Fagor 4 qt pressure cooker with a new pressure/slow cooker I think I would try and pressure cook the ‘chokes’ to tenderize and slow cook after stuffing.
Barbara has so many great-sounding recipes one could make any number of complete menus from them, for instance, a BBQ Menu, a Picnic Menu, a hearty winter or light warm-weather soup dinner, a brunch menu, and Italian menu, and so forth. Start with one recipe and build a menu around it with other recipes from Pressure Cooking Today.
What a sweet comment. Thanks Rita!
I would make white rice. 🙂
would definitely make chicken tortilla soup asap!!
Pork ribs! Or BBQ pulled pork sandwiches.
I’d try a beef roast!
i love risotto and I like that the pressure cooker allows one to make it quickly without stirring.
Agreed! Pressure cooker risottos really are super easy and super delicious.
I would probably make one of the short rib recipes from the Great Big Pressure Cooker Book first.
The first thing I would cook is a cheesecake. If it can make a good cheesecake, it can make anything.
The first meal I would make is Alton Brown’s Pressure Cooker Chili! YUM
New at pc but would love to try this electric from a trusted source like Fagor.
Would like to attempt steamed dumplings
I would make my favorite recipe adaptedf from one of Emeril Lagasse’s recipes: Kale and sausage soup – it’s the best!!
I will want to gift it to my dearest friend, who is also a VERY busy working mother of 3. I would tell her to try cooking chickpeas…for the best hummus!! Thanks for this opportunity 🙂
That’s so nice! Good luck!
I love my stove top Fagor pressure cooker. I have always wanted an electric one! How fun!
I would make real chili with chunks of meat, not ground meat!! Not only would dinner be ready after just 15 minutes in the Fagor Lux electric pot, but its 6 quart capacity allows me to make plenty for a crowd. I would be able to supply my daughter, son-in-law, and 2 granddaughters (ages 2 and 1 month) with a meal, too, and still have leftovers.
I’d try making some beef barley soup or bread pudding (my husbands favorite.)
Thanks for the giveaway!
I would love to have this cooker in my kitchen!
I would try the Steamed Carrot Pudding Cake!
Great choice!
I want to try making my own refried beans!
I’d like to see the included recipe book. I’d like to try some steel cut oatmeal. I’ve got a Cuisinart and need to get me a stainless steel pot.
Thanks for the review on this Fagor.
I would cook a pot of lasagna, I have cooked it before in my pressure cooker and it was real good.
What a great giveaway. I’d love to win this. I always look forward to your posts!
Beans — I love pressure cooking dry beans!!
I would make risotto first! Then pork carnitas. Love pressure cooking!
Beans, or bean soup.
Nice pressure cooker
Looks like a super cooker. I have an old one and am afraid to use it. Would love to make my brisket recipe again.
The Fagor electric was my very first pressure cooker. Now it’s just about all I use! I would love to get this new one because of the new material on the cooking bowl! I’m retired, but I still need to save time … so I can spoil my grand-babies … so this is perfect! love and hugs, cookie
This looks like a really nice electric pressure cooker! Thanks Fagor and Barbara for a chance to win this cooker!!
I would make lemon cheesecake! Love the idea of making cheesecake in a pressure cooker.
My daughter made your BBQ ribs in her Instant Pot and that’s what I would make FIRST!!! I’m trying to decide which brand to buy.
Hi Gwynette – thanks for letting me know how much you loved the ribs. You really couldn’t go wrong with this pressure cooker.
I really want to try making beef stew in the pressure cooker
Ms. Denise! Once you make stew in the pressure cooker, you will NEVER go back! … and you’ll NEVER have to panic when it’s dinner time and you remember you didn’t remember to un-thaw something … and Fagor KNOWS how to make these things so simple that even this grandma who NEVER pressure-cooked before I was 65 … pressure cook like I’ve been doing it ‘all along’ 🙂 l/h cookie
Thanks for sharing your passion for pressure cooking! 🙂
Love pressure cooking….this looks like a nice one
I’ve had a traditional fagor for years…but I’ve been wanting an automatic, multi functional electric on. This looks beautiful!!!
this looks like a great pot. I hardly cook a meal without my pressure cooker anymore.
My friends and family are tired of hearing me talk about the wonders of pressure cooking, but when I show them how wonderful a cheesecake cooked in a Fagor pressure cooker tastes, it wins them over. I hardly ever use my oven any more, because all the meat or poultry I cook in the pressure tastes so much better. I had a Fagor stovetop pressure cooker, but since I have an electric stove I thought it would be easier to use an electric one. Since I wasn’t sure the electric pressure cooker would do as well as the stovetop one, I purchased a 4 qt. electric pressure cooker and it’s wonderful, aside from the fact that I can’t cook a whole chicken in it unless I cut the chicken apart. That’s why I would love to have a 6 qt. Fagor pressure cooker.
Hi Sandra – pressure cooker cheesecake is amazing. So glad you’re having fun with you electric pressure cooker.
Thank you for your generosity with your giveaways , knowledge and recipes.
Think I would try honey roasted chicken. Thanks for the chance to win.
Never thought to make mac and cheese in the pressure cooker. I will now!
Steel Cut Oats for sure!
How do I get one for free? I live at 6000 feet elevation and things boiled take forever to cook.
Use the rafflecopter above to enter to win. A pressure cooker would be great at your altitude.
Oh my gosh! I would love to win the Fagor. There are many features that I would use, let alone all the great recipes I can start using. How about the Pea Soup for starters. That looks great!
I’ve worn out 2 pressure cookers already! Waiting on parts for the present one as we speak. A new one would be a God send! What don’t I make in it!! But the one thing that will always have me replacing it is for steel cut oatmeal. Perfect every time and much faster as well. (oh, and chicken broth, beans, asian rice, cheesecake, ….)
I couldn’t agree more. I haven’t made steel cut oats any other way since I tried it in the pressure cooker.
I really hope to speed up the tamale making process! Pressure cook all of the meat and then pressure the prepared tamales!
Tamales are on my list too.
I have WANTED an electric pressure cooker for what seems like an ETERNITY. I hope I win this. I’d start with a good ol’ pot of beans. I LOVE beans and would freeze the leftovers for other recipes. I’d LOVE to be able to make a batch of beans in mere minutes!
I’d want to try an asparagus risotto. I get so bored stirring it on the stove for 35-40 minutes.
You’ll love how easy risotto is to make in the pressure cooker.
I see pressure cookers all over the web. I think I really want to try it. It would be awesome to have a meal ready in under an hour.
I would try to cook pinto beans as my first dish.
My hubby has been wanting old fashioned pot roast so that would have to be first but. Would love to try some sort of bean dish.
Cool! Count me in!
Really enjoy the website! I’m also intrigued with the ceramic pot
WOW….what a great give-away! I would love to try your cheesecake, pulled pork, potato salad, (I could go on and on) in this new eletric pressure cooker. It’s hot hot hot in the Arizona desert so….. any way I can avoid turning on my stove top or oven will be wonderful!
Thanks Nancy – it would be perfect for your Arizona weather.
I would make yogurt.
Oh my gosh this looks amazing. I would love to try making my own yoghurt! How fun!
I would like to try a dessert. I am not sure which one. This is new to me.
Can’t wait to try this product. The old ones were pretty scary so this looks great.
I am so happy that I found you via Judy’s blog PatchworkTimes. What great recipes you have to share. I enjoy your blog so much that I now follow you on Pinterest as one of my favorite bloggers.
Thanks so much for all of your times for putting our great recipes for the pressure cooker.
How sweet – thanks Debbie!
I just saw a recipe for Juicy Lucy (stuffed cheeseburgers) and I must try it now.
This looks very much like my rice cooker (which I couldn’t live without) but I’d love to have such a multi- tasker as this
Is the pot “table presentable”? Looks like it might be, which would be nice.
It is table presentable for everyday meals.
I have just discovered the joy and ease of cooking rice in my InstantPot, so rice would probably be first, followed by other long cooking grains.
Oops, that should be Fassolakia yahni beans aka fresh green beans, tomatoes, herbs and spices.
I am intrigued by the ceramic cook pot and would love to learn all about it. The only way to learn is to try ALL the recipes and various features. It’s difficult to pick one recipe as they are all delicious and nutritious, but since I have a hankering for the Minestrone Soup with Basil Pesto I’ll start with that one first. . . . then I’ll move on to the Beef Stew. . . . then how about the Rice Pudding or Black Bean Soup. I’m looking forward to making my own Yogurt as well.
Thank you Barbara.
Thanks Patti – so many recipes, so little time 🙂
I would love to win a Fagor. I’m really unhappy with the Cuisinart Pressure cooker I purchased and I’m in the market for a new cooker 🙂
Thank you for this review. I enjoy your blog and have bought my pressure cookers based on your reviews in the past. Thanks for all the great recipes and please keep them coming. I look forward to your posts!
Thanks Sandra – that so nice 🙂
The first thing I’d make in the Fagor Lux would be beef short ribs, I love them but I dislike the long braising time in the oven, it heats up the apartment way too much in the warm months that I just don’t make my favorite meal during the summer.
Hi Robin – short ribs are one of my favorite meals too.
This looks like a great product. So many various machines all in one! I know you put it to a good test Barbara, and if it gets your seal of approval, then it must be good 🙂 Hope I win 🙂
Thanks Kathy! Good luck!
Never used an electric, but more then willing to try knockoff Greek yahni beans as first attempt.
I have one of those silicone steamer basket. Would that work here?
Yes, your silicone steamer basket should work, as long as it’s the right size.
I’d start with making the chicken marsala… YUM!
What a gorgeous pressure cooker…and it slow cooks too? Wow…..
I have a Fagor stove top pressure cooker-didn’t even know they came out with an electric one!
I still haven’t tried cheesecake in the pressure cooker….I’ve gotta change that soon. 🙂
I am very impressed with all the multi-cooker features of this cooker. So many interesting ideas.
Also happy to see the not teflon non-stick pot.
I love making cheesecake in the pressure cooker!
I would make yogurt in it for my first time!
Mac n cheese
Hi,
I love your blog and have made many of your recipes and one of our favorites is the rice pudding – YUM!
Keep up the great work a joy your new kitchen toy! 😉
Thanks Sandra! That so nice. Rice pudding is one of my favorites too.
Lamb curry. Mmmmm…
I am just starting to use a pressure cooker again after many years of not using one! I have one of the old ones you use on top of the stove but it has been on the shelf for over 20 years! Love the new electric ones as they don’t require the constant attention that the old one did!
If I win I will steam some snow crab legs. Yum!
Looks like a nice pressure cooker to make chili in.
The Fagor America Lux certainly has some nice features. The push button choices on the front panel would be a big help in setting up recipes. What a nice giveaway! Of course I would love to win! Thank you!
Beef Stroganoff which is one of my favorite dinners. Since we only eat beef twice a month it’s a real treat for me.
I would make your Chicken Enchilada Pasta!
At my age (70) I appreciate all things that make life easier, this looks and sounds fantastic.
I would definitely make your potato salad, Barbara, if I won this — a “win-win”!
Oh boy!!! I will make either Chicken Marsala or a Chianti braised Beef!!!
Easy pulled pork!!
I would love to win, I am very new to the pressure cooking world. My sister makes the best beans in it, and I would love to try that along with MANY other things!
Thank you.
I would like to make ribs in the pressure. That is one thing that I have not tried yet.
Wow, this sounds great! I’d love to try it hard cooking eggs for deviled eggs, a family favorite!
I guess I was supposed to say what I would cook first in the pressure cooker, should I win it. I’m not sure but probably a pot roast or maybe soup of some sort.
I like the idea of the beep when it reaches pressure. I have done the same thing, forget to set the valve correctly or leave it off altogether. Very frustrating to look a little later and find that it has switched to warm because it ran out of liquid. I did that not too long ago and was afraid I had ruined my pot because it was so burned looking inside. But it cleaned up just fine and no harm done, I guess. The food was in a separate pot so it didn’t burn. Do do that more often than I’d like to admit.
First recipe would be Barbara’s Rice Pudding, or Butter Chicken. Or hard boiled eggs, or butternut squash, or…
Ribs are my favorite and with summer coming on, fast cooking yum!
I’ve been happy w/ my stove-top Fagor model. Would be great to have an electric one, as well.
I managed to get roped into a summer long pot luck and this pot could be a life savior!
If I won this pressure cooker, the first recipe I would try would be a chicken recipe. My kids love tender, moist chicken!
First off I’d make yogurt. There’s a sort of CSA near me that sells raw milk and I’m trying to improve my digestive heath eating a good name brand yogurt each day, but being able to do so with local milk and more affordable at home would be great.
I’d make your pork ragu … I am a huge fan of all things porcine 🙂
I love my Fagor pressure cookers and I would love add this multi cooker to my collection.
This sounds really good. I’m intrigued by the ceramic pot. I have one of the early Instant Pots and like it.
Would love to win a Fagor!
I would make daal first – a familiar recipe to discover any cooking time differences between stove-top and standalone 🙂
