Fagor LUX 8 Quart Multi-Cooker Review and Giveaway
Mother’s Day is right around the corner, so today I’m sharing the second of three pressure cooker reviews and three giveaways I’m hosting! Fagor sent me their top rated Fagor LUX 8 Quart Multi-Cooker to review and host a giveaway.
Details on how you can win a Fagor LUX 8 Quart Multi-Cooker are at the bottom of this post.
Good Housekeeping recently tested Multi-cookers / Electric Pressure Cookers that also saute/sear, make rice, slow cook and steam in the pot. Good Housekeeping gave high marks to many of the great electric pressure cookers on the market now, but gave top marks to the Fagor LUX. Good Housekeeping listed the pros and cons of the LUX as:
Pros
- Came up to pressure quickly
- Quick pressure release valve worked very rapidly
- Excellent at pressure-cooking beef stew
- Good at slow-cooking beef stew
- Evenly browned meat
- Good at cooking rice
- Manual is clear and thorough
- Intuitive, easy-to-read controls
- Features timed cooking and settings for browning, steaming and delay start
- Cooking insert is dishwasher safe
Cons
- Took a long time to release pressure naturally
The Fagor representative I work with was excited about the review and explained:
The review from Goodhousekeeping is fantastic and gives the potential customer who has never heard of the LUX the information on why this small appliance is so amazing: the fact that it delivers superb results in every setting.
It is actually the fastest electric cooker because it works with 1300 watts instead of 1000 watts like some competitors do, all the additional assisting functions, the fact they think it is the only one that excelled at steaming rice, the nice call out about the intuitive controls and helpful manual.
My Review
I’ve long been a fan of the Fagor LUX and was excited to give the 8 quart a try. If you have a big family, or routinely make large batches of soups or freezer meals, the 8 quart is a great size and may be worth paying a little extra for a larger pressure cooker.
The LUX comes with a non-stick, ceramic cooking pot that’s easy to clean but also give you a great sear on meats. If you’re a fan of a stainless steel cooking pot, Fagor sells one as an accessory.
Another thing I like about the LUX is the white writing on the black background makes it easy to see whether the valve is in the correct position for pressure cooking or for releasing the steam/pressure.
The lid locking system is also white on a dark background with a locked and unlocked symbol so you can easily tell which way to turn the lid to lock it in place.
I was impressed how much bigger the 8 quart seemed in comparison to the 6 quart, and also how quickly the 8 quart Fagor LUX came to pressure.
You can learn how to use the LUX in my video showing how to make my popular Beef and Broccoli recipe. You can also find more information about the LUX on the Fagor website, including two helpful videos with info about the LUX.

Disclosure: I was sent a Fagor LUX 8 Quart Multi-Cooker to review, but all opinions expressed are always my own.
I would love to win this and begin to enjoy more of my afternoons with my family!
One can never have too many pressure cookers.
I love pressure cooking, and large amount cooking….this would be great!
I own the Fagor Duo stove top and long for the electric 8 qt. It appears to be a substantial appliance. Thank you for the review.
I love my 6 quart that i have had for 3 years now….but this new Fagor LUX 8 is so beautiful. I love all the new buttons that have been added!
I so want a fagor it looks amazing
I love my Fagor stovetop set, so would expect more of the same from an electric cooker.
I would love to win this pressure cooker!
I would love to have a larger pressure cooker for my needs. This one looks like it would fit the need.
Oh my goodness, another gorgeous cooker! I have a Fagor stove top pressure cooker and have loved it since I got it. I can only imagine how nice this beauty is.
This looks great. As I get older, I want to spend less time cooking, and a pot that does do much would clear out some of my other small appliances.
I would love to win!
Why s the rest of the world excluded from the competition? seems rather unfair!
Sorry Grahame – it would be nice if the whole world could have pressure cookers for sure.
I would love to have this for our camping trailer. I own a traditional Fagor pressure cooker and LOVE it! From my personal experience, Fagor makes high quality products.
I have the instant pot which I love but the larger size would be wonderful. I love being able to programme it to start later in the day while I am out.
A 8qt sounds like the ticket! Always need just a little larger pot. Navy beans & ham hocks is fantastic in IP! Also— bone soups!
Great for Precooking BBQ’s such as Baby Back Ribs
Interestingly, Mike Vrobel at Dad Cooks Dinner did not find the huge “time to pressure” differences between the Instant Pot and Fagor that Good Housekeeping’s review suggests there is. Maybe more testing is needed. I personally own an Instant Pot and several stovetops and if there’s anything I miss with an electric that I have with my stovetops, it’s the “time to pressure” speed. I can’t comment on the Fagor as I don’t own one, but waiting for an electric to come to pressure takes patience :-).
Thank you for posting a review. I have the IP 6qt. I make my own sauces, stocks and soups to freeze as well as other large capacity meals. I often look for smaller chickens and cuts of meat to accommodate my 6qt. A larger pressure cooker is the answer.
Pressure cooked bean soup done in 2 hours rather than 24. My recipe is leftover ham bone and dried navy beans, carrots and. Greens at the end. Delish.
Would love to compare this pot to the one I have now. We travel in an RV during summer and this would be nice . I love to make stews and soups in winter and this pot seems to have a lot more features than the one I have.
I like the idea for the faster heat up times. This was the only drawback I found with the electric over the stovetop.
My husband does most of the cooking and he loves his pressure cooker but I know he would love this one better as it does so much more than the old one that we have. I enjoy his food that he cooks in the pressure cooker and it is so fast especially when you forget something out for your meal.
Would love try to some roasts and stew in this thing! 🙂
This does look like an item to get. I’m wondering how you think it compares to the InstantPot. I’ve been looking to upgrade but would like your thoughts on which would be better. I would like the 8 quart model but just can’t decide on which brand. There’s SOOO much out there about the IntantPot so thought I’d ask you.
Hi Doug – The Fagor and the Instant Pot are both excellent choices. If you like a non-stick pot for your every day pots and pans, you might prefer the Fagor. If you’re a stainless steel guy all the way, you might like the Instant Pot better. Any recipes you find for the Instant Pot you can also cook in the Fagor without changes.
I have a smaller Instant Pot with a stainless steel pot and it is harder to clean and a bit small for my family. I wish I had known more before I purchased one. I love being able to cook things quicker and healthier. I am still trying to learn the best ways to do that. I love finding new recipes to try too. This one looks fantastic! Thanks for the information!
Oh, I would love to upgrade to this pressure cooker, So many more features than the one I am using now.
Hi Barbara, I love the looks of this pressure cooker and who wouldn’t love an 8 quart one! I started using a stovetop pressure cooker way back in the early 70’s when funds were not good and it tenderized the most cheapest meats. And soup bones in it made a wonderful soup. But now the electric ones are a whole lot safer and more than just a pressure cooker. I want to thank you for this wonderful opportunity to win the Fagor and thanks for your reviews on it….. Claudia
Even different buttons for white rice and brown rice, how convenient !
Full-time life in RV makes this cooker a necessity !
Looks like a beautiful pressure cooker! I like all the buttons for different foods. I was always scared of pressure cookers and this would be wonderful to win!!!! Need a large one.
