REVIEW: Mealthy CrispLid Air Fryer Lid for Your Pressure Cooker
The newest Mealthy CrispLid is here, now with 5 dehydrate settings and a deeper basket! This awesome little appliance sits on top of your pressure cooker’s stainless steel pot to brown, crisp, or air-fry the food inside. Even better, the same lid works with both 6-quart and 8-quart pressure cookers!
People are right to be excited—I’ve never seen a pressure cooking accessory quite like this before! The CrispLid consists of a heating element and fan attached to a glass lid. You use the handle to place the CrispLid directly on top of any 6-quart or 8-quart stainless steel pressure cooking pot.
Seriously, ANY BRAND with a stainless steel inner pot—including any Instant Pot model, Power Quick Pot, and Pampered Chef’s Quick Cooker. (Sorry Power Pressure Cooker XL users—your nonstick pot just won’t work with this.)
When will the Crisp Lid be available?
You can order the CrispLid on Mealthy’s website! The CrispLid is also available on Amazon.
How Does the CrispLid Work?
Here’s how to use the Mealthy CrispLid with your electric pressure cooker. First, unplug your pressure cooker, release the pressure if necessary, and remove your pressure cooker lid. Use the handle to rest the crisp lid your stainless steel inner cooking pot.
Lower the handle until you hear it click into place. Press the temperature button to select a cooking temperature. (It goes from 300 to 500°F in 25 degree increments.) Then select a cooking time. (You can set a custom time from 1 minute to 60 minutes.)
Press the triangle start button to begin the cycle.
The heating element lights up and cycles on and off while it cooks to maintain the selected temperature. When food is cooked, or reaches desired crispiness, just turn off the CrispLid and place it on the silicone trivet to cool.
Remember: The handle has to be down or your CrispLid won’t turn on. You also have to hit the triangle start button to get it to turn on.
What You’ll Love about the CrispLid Pressure Cooker Air Fryer Lid
I love that the Mealthy CrispLid has a glass lid, so you can see how brown your food is getting—without lifting the lid.
The CrispLid air fryer comes with a 3-inch tall metal trivet, a mesh air frying basket, short stainless steel tongs, and a silicone trivet, so you can get started right away! The silicone trivet is a must-have—the air fryer is HOT after using, and it’s really nice to have a dedicated, safe place to put it.
The CrispLid design is really cool! The two steps on the stainless steel rim are what allows it to fit both 6-quart and 8-quart pressure cookers.
The CrispLid does get really hot on the bottom and you should always use caution when removing it. The handle is nicely designed to stay cool and to keep your hands far away from the heating element.
Your CrispLid will automatically remember your previous time and temperature settings the next time you use it.
CrispLid User Guide
Like the MultiPot, the CrispLid has an excellent User Guide (Guide for the New CrispLid With Dehydrate). It has clear text and helpful illustrations that will help you feel confident using your new air-fryer lid!
For example, here’s a step from the getting started guide. I love that the illustration reinforces safety information like not plugging in both the pressure cooker and the crisp lid at the same time.
I recommend reading through the manual and getting familiar with the safety instructions.
What You Should Be Aware of Before Buying
You can only use the CrispLid with a 6-quart or 8-quart electric pressure cookers. In addition, it can only be used with a stainless steel pot. It does not fit other sizes and could damage ceramic, aluminum, or nonstick coatings.
The air fryer basket is small and doesn’t hold as much as I had hoped. You will need to rotate your food or do a few smaller batches to crisp food throughout.
The power cord on the Crisp Lid is really short. This is intentional to prevent tripping hazards. The User Guide directs you not to use extension cords with your Crisp Lid.
A safety feature built into the crisp lid is that it will only cook at or above 450F for 20 minutes. After that, you will have to wait at least 10 minutes before you can use it above 450F again. (For temperatures under 450F, the maximum cook time is 60 minutes.)
If you want to flip your food or rotate the food, raise the handle to pause the cooking process. However, if you’re not extremely quick at shifting the food, the cook time will restart when you lock the handle back in place. So you’ll want to keep an eye on the time before you adjust it.
How to Air Fry with the CrispLid
You don’t have to pressure cook something before air frying! Use the CrispLid to cook any food that would make it in an air fryer.
Fill the air fryer basket with the food you would like to cook. Place the tall trivet in the bottom of your stainless steel cooking pot, then put the filled air fryer basket on top. Place the Crisp Lid on top of the stainless steel cooking pot and lock the handle in place. Then follow your recipe instructions for temperature and cook time.
Remove the CrispLid to the silicone trivet when complete.
I tested these Garlic Parmesan Air-Fryer French Fries using both a traditional air fryer and the crisp lid and couldn’t tell the difference between the two.
How to Broil/Brown Foods with the CrispLid
If you wish to finish a dish in your pressure cooking pot—like browning mozzarella cheese on top of your pasta—the CrispLid is the perfect tool! After pressure cooking your food, release the pressure as directed, remove your pressure cooker lid, and unplug your pressure cooker.
Wait for the steam to clear, and double check that no food is above the max fill line of your pressure cooker. If necessary, add any ingredients you’d like to brown.
Place the Crisp Lid on top of the stainless steel cooking pot and lock the handle in place. Then follow your recipe instructions for temperature and cook time.
Again, remove the CrispLid to the silicone trivet when complete.
I tested browning my Pressure Cooker Bow Tie Pasta with the crisp lid, and it worked great!
What about Pressure Cooker Warranties?
Many pressure cooker brands include a limited warranty with their machines. Some, like the Power Quick Pot, are just 60 days, while others are typically for 1 year. These warranties may have restrictions on what accessories can be used with their pressure cookers.
These guidelines are often overly cautious. For example, the Pampered Chef Quick Cooker discourages users from any non-Pampered Chef products in the pressure cooker—even pressure cooking standbys like 7×3 cake pans or silicone trays—simply because only Pampered Chef products have been tested with the machines. Many other popular brands, like Instant Pot, are the same.
If you want to be extremely cautious, however, the Mealthy Pressure Cooker has been approved for use with the Mealthy CrispLid. (Look for my review on the Mealthy pressure cooker this weekend.)
In my experience testing this product, I loved it! I would definitely recommend the CrispLid to anyone who already has a 6-quart or 8-quart pressure cooker that has a stainless steel pot. It allows you use your pressure cooker as an air fryer, for less money than purchasing a separate air fryer. Plus it’s much easier to find space to store the CrispLid than a whole other appliance.

Has anyone found out what kind of technology is used in that powerful light of Mealthy lid? Is it healthy. If anyone has answer please reply. Is it something similar to microwave? Because the manufactuerer has not given any information or warning on the side affects of the food cooked in mealthy, i have my doubts
Hi Sandy – it is a heating element and a fan similar to a convection oven and does not use microwaves.
I don’t own a pressure cooker/Instant Pot but this looks like a great addition to one. The fries look nice and crispy.
Love your website, very informative, Looking to purchase but Mealthy website not avaiable to purchase, any ideas thanks PS. Great receipes
Thanks Tammie! Mealthy was selling the CrispLid at Costco, but they may be sold out there too. I know Covid has cause problems with their supply chain. They should have more in stock soon I’m sure.
Darn! I saw this too late. These lids are out of stock on the Mealthy website and the ones available through Amazon are more than double the price. I guess I’ll check back with Mealthy in a month.
Hi James – I asked my contact at Mealthy and she said they should be back in stock the end of August, early September.
Thanks for the chance.
My first CrispLid was defective (error code E0004 during four consecutive uses). Contacted Mealthy customer service and they replaced the lid immediately. The second lid worked perfectly. I made sweet potato fries following the recipe for French fries (375 deg for 9 minutes then turn and cook another 9 minutes). The fries were a little crispy and limp. However they firmed up some after cooling a bit. They were cooked through and tender. For my second attempt I tried frozen mini pretzel dogs. I cooked them at 375 degrees for 5 mins and that was too hot and too long. The outer pretzel layer was very toasted, almost burned, while the mini dog inside was cool. I’ll keep experimenting. Overall I think the CrispLid is a good product and will compliment my other kitchen cooking utensils nicely. I like the tongs and silicon trivet to set the hot lid on that were provided with the CrispLid. I wish the basket were bigger but guess stacking defeats the ability to cook/crisp the food. The Mealthy website is very robust with lots of recipes. I’m looking forward to trying air fried fish and chicken.
Thanks for sharing your experiences Rene. Did you know Mealthy does have a new deeper basket available on their website for $14.95 https://mealthy.com/products
Barbara, in your opinion, could the crisplid/IP completely replace a standalone air fryer? Would be great to be able to free up some space in the kitchen! Thanks!
Hi Jan – I think it could replace a small air fryer, but if you have a larger air fryer that you love, it probably won’t replace that.
I would love to purchase a crisp lid! When will iit be available in Europe?
Hi Sammie – Should be available at the end of the month on Amazon.uk

Looking forward to this coming on the market, but I wonder what the price will be.
Hi Ruth – it is currently available for $49.99 and right now they’re offering free shipping!
would this fit a 5 litre pressure king pro
It’s made to fit 6 and 8 quart pressure cookers, so it may not fit a 5 litre.
I was looking at other Crisp lids for the instant pot and I guess I got mine to fast..don’t get me wrong I absolutely love my instant pot and the crisp lid I use it all the time I wish someone would have come up with them when my kids were young..but anyway the other Crisp tops have a lot more things you can do with it..some are 11 in 1 some are 9 in 1 it sure would have helped instead of having to change tops during a recipe…
Hi Mary – most of the additional options are just pre-set times and you still have to change lids when you want to pressure cook or air fry.
I don’t see it on Anazon. Do you have a link?
Hi Gail – I believe it’s sold out on Amazon now https://amzn.to/2k7hXkm
Gail – The CrispLid is available on the Mealthy site for the same price as Amazon – free shipping.
I find I’m using my 3qt Instant Pot the most. It sits on my Kitchen Counter. Will there be a Mealthy Air Fryer attachment for the 3qrt Pot any time soon? If I have to lug out my 6qrt, I will end up never using the current Mealthy Air Fryer! Just being honest.
Hi Jane – Mealthy will need to release a 3 quart before they release a CrispLid for the 3 quart. So it may be a while yet.
when will crisp lid be available on Amazon?
Hi Marilyn – The CrispLid will be available on Amazon for Prime Day, July 15.
The first thing I would try would be sweet potato fries.
I just added my email address to win a CrispLids. It looks like you already gave them away? If so, why are you still asking for email addresses?
Hi Gigi – this is the second giveaway. It ends tomorrow. Good luck!
I would make tater tots first. Yum.
The first thing I would try is homemade French fries.
I would make french fries all the time.
I can’t waif for this to be available in Canada! 🇨🇦
I ordered one through your link 😁
Thanks Mary – have fun!
I have a Cook’s Essential pressure cooker with a non-stick pot. Is there a reason stainless steel is recommended?
Hi Marie – the heat from the CrispLid could damage the non-stick pot.
Got mine ordered today (6/24). Looking forward to carmelizing BBQ spare ribs cooked in the Instant Pot. There are so many ways this lid can be used. I went on Mealthy.com and downloaded the manual to my Kindle app so I can be ready when my lid arrives. After ready through the manual’s instructions, care and maintenance, it seems very easy to use and it answered several questions I still had.
That’s great – thanks for sharing Lynn! Have fun 🙂
I pre-ordered one on May 30 and thought they were going to be out on June 24. Received an email confirmation and lots of emails about other Mealthy stuff but nothing about the lid. UPS delivered it to me in Hawaii today! But it would have been nice if I knew it shipped.
Hi Jay – strange that you didn’t receive a notification, but great that you received it today. Have fun!
I have 8qt PPCXL with stainless steel pot…is there any reason why this would not work for me.?
It should work well with your 8 quart with a stainless steel inner pot.
Barbara, I pre-ordered the Cris[pLid from you link when you posted the link. Now, I get an email from them tor pre-order again. Did my order not go through for your promotion? They could only have my email addy through your link. I know once someone gets your email addy they keep sending promotions. I’m just wondering if my pre-order is in the running for the giveaway.
Hi Robin – Thanks for ordering through my link! I’m sorry, the giveaway has ended and your entry was not selected. I’m not sure why your preorder didn’t go through. I didn’t give any email addresses to Mealthy, so they could have only gotten your email from you. You’ll want to follow up with Mealthy to make sure your get the CrispLid.

Barbara,
What a great way to have an air fryer for the RV. Less room needed to store it and handy for so many items. Since the pot is off, you would be only pulling watts for the lid. I am definitely going to check this out some more.
Hope you are having fun in your new rig!
Thanks Linda! I hadn’t thought about using it in the RV, but that’s a great idea.
Very interested in the Crisplid to use on my Instant Pot. I’m in Canada so Mealthy is not interested in my pre-order. And I’ll bet it’s way more than $50 US which will be about $75 CAN or more. Perhaps I should just use a browning torch.
Hi Trudy – I know it will be released in Canada towards the end of the summer, but I’m not sure of the price. You could try a blow torch for browning cheese on top of a casserole, etc. but I would remove the inner pot from the housing.
I received the CrispLid to review from Mealthy yesterday and after reading your in-depth review and glancing through the instruction booklet, I jumped right into using it. My test for any air fryer is how well it can cook a Baked Potato and the Mealthy “CrispLid” did an excellent job of it. Perfectly cooked at the same time as other fryers at the same temp.
Did Salmon Croquettes in my Instant Pot and browned with the CrispLid for dinner. So easy and works so very well with my Instant Pots. This is a fantastic product and I will be recommending it to my friends.
I have other air fryers and one ( to be un-named) is headed for the recycle bin as the pot falls away from the basket when pulling it out to remove food – dangerous. I love the CrispLid for all the same reasons that Barbara Schieving mentions. The glass lid with light so I can see how well the food is cooking, well-written instructions, ease of use and it works with the Instant Pots that I already own so now I won’t replace the fryer that is faulty.
I am an avid stainless steel pot user and this allows me to get back to using Stainless Steel in air frying so that’s a big win for me. This is an answer for many that enjoy cooking in the electric pressure cooker and then want to brown up the topping without having to move the food from pressure cooker and into the air fryer. No turning my oven on just to brown something and the price is extremely reasonable compared to most air fryers. If you ask me… GET ONE ORDERED TODAY!
Interested in getting the answer to June’s question on June 6th. Will the dry heat damage any parts of the instant pot? Especially the wiring.
Looking forward to seeing the answer.
Also I noticed the contest is closed for a free lid, will you be having another one soon?
Hi Chris – please see my response to June below. Yes! We will be giving away 3 CrispLids about June 24 when they are available for purchase.
I have a concern regarding the dry heat from the CrispLid affecting the plastic insulation of the wiring in the Instant Pot. A few years back, on the news report, about a certain model Instant Pot multipot that the plastic melted.
The Mealthy manual says 450 for 20 minutes then shut off for 10 minutes so it doesn’t overheat. I would like to know if the wiring in the Instant Pot can withstand the dry heat for that period of time. Will the plastic become brittle? I read the AirCrisp manual and mentions adhesives may be affected in the pressure cooker.
The customer support from Mealthy didn’t provide an answer to my question yet. Just I will check with our designers and get back to you.
Hi June – the Mealthy pressure cooker has been available for several years and is similar to the Instant Pot. I’m confident that the CrispLid was well tested before it was released. The recall you are referring to was not the Instant Pot pressure cooker, it was the Gem (similar to a slow cooker) and it was a manufacturing defect on just a few models that were recalled. You can read more information about it here https://www.hippressurecooking.com/instant-pot-gem-recall/
I need clarification before I order the Mealthy lid. You state that it can be used with the Pampered Chef cooker but it appears that the Mealthy lid is round whereas the Pampered Chef lid is square. How does that work?
Great question! Because the Mealthy Crisp Lid sits right on top of the round cooking pot inside the Papered Chef pressure cooker, it’s a great fit! Hope that helps!
can it be used with the instant pot?
Hi Shannon – yes, it can be used with 6 and 8 quart Instant Pots.
I have ordered the lid and am really looking forward to using it. I really appreciate your generosity of sharing your website. I have learned so much from you. The instant pot is so fun. I have purchased two more of them for gifts.
That’s so sweet – thanks so much Judy! They make perfect gifts. Have fun with the lid!
I’m really excited to try out the accessory, since I really didn’t want to buy an air fryer. Just so you know, the website isn’t working right now… so I’ll keep checking back to buy mine. Maybe your blog really got too much business for them to handle!?
I think you’ll love it Debby. The Mealthy website has been slow today, but it is working. If you’re on a desktop the cart pops up on the right side.
How do you clean it?
Hi Celia – after the CrispLid has cooled the manual says to clean it by wiping it with a damp cloth. The tongs, trivet, basket, and silicone plate are dishwasher safe.

I’m looking forward to receiving mine. Can you clarify for me, the lid description? I thought I read that it was glass and you can see through it but, the pictures don’t appear to be glass.
Hi Viki – the outside of the CrispLid is an amber colored glass that you can see through. Have fun!
What a wonderful review. I feel that I am “ready” to jump in and use mine when I receive it. Thank you for such great details and photos.
Great! Thanks so much for everything you do for the FB group Genene!
Do you need to drain liquid from the up before using the fryer? I have an air fryer and it crisps from top and bottom, does this work the same way?
Hi LouAnn – this crisps from the top only. For best results you should drain the liquid after pressure cooking, but I’ve used the air fryer top on the Ninja without draining and it still works well. It also works well for something like browning the cheese on top of pasta.
