Instant Pot Lux Pressure Cooker Review

The Instant Pot Lux is a 6 quart electric pressure cooker that’s also a slow cooker, rice cooker, steamer, sautér and warmer. It has 10 Micro-Processor controlled programs: Meat/Stew, Soup, Sauté, Poultry, Bean/Chili, Congee, Steam, Multigrain, Rice and Slow Cook – including a manual setting and 3 adjustable modes for most functions.

Instant Pot IP-LUX 60 Review:

Christmas came early at my house. The Instant Pot Company sent me their Instant Pot LUX 60 6-quart electric pressure cooker to review. I’ve only had it a few days and I already know the Instant Pot and I are going to be great friends.

I haven’t had time to try all the Instant Pot Lux functions, but one thing I have loved is the beautiful, bright shiny 3-ply bottom stainless steel cooking pot. One of the advantages of pressure cooking is that you can brown your ingredients in the pot before cooking. The stainless steel pot does a better job of browning than the non-stick surface in my Cuisinart electric pressure cooker.

The lid on the Instant Pot was easier to understand how it needs to be aligned to lock into place, and I liked the pressure/steam release design better than the Cuisinart’s too. The Instant Pot Lux was quieter, and I liked that there are less parts to clean on the Instant Pot lid.

I like the float valve design on the Cuisinart better. The value is red and it’s easy to see when it comes to pressure and when the pressure has dropped. The float valve on the Instant Pot is inside a hole and I can’t see in the hole without standing on my tippy toes.

In reviews the Cuisinart pressure cooker manual is often criticized for not being clear, and the Instant Pot manual has the same problem. There is contradictory information, and limited information about how to use all the functions. The Instant Pot website has a How Smart Cooking Programs Work that gives more detailed about the programs.

But those are really are just minor criticisms, the Instant Pot Lux is a fantastic tool for creating quick, healthy meals in a fraction of the time!
