Fagor LUX LCD Pressure Cooker Review
The Fagor LUX LCD pressure cooker is a new electric pressure cooker / multicooker manufactured by the Fagor Corporation. Here is my review of this alternative to the Instant Pot.
Now that fall is right around the corner, it’s time to think of warm, comforting soups and hearty pressure cooked meals. Over the next couple of months, I’ll be reviewing several pressure cooker. Today I’m sharing my Fagor LUX LCD Pressure Cooker Review.
Fagor recently released a new electric pressure cooker / multicooker with lots of new features and a fancy LCD screen. The Fagor LUX LCD comes in three sizes. A 6 quart that cooks at 1000 Watts; an 8 quart that cooks at 1300 Watts; and a smaller 4 quart that uses 800 Watts.
Details on how you can win a Fagor LUX LCD 6 Quart Multicooker are at the bottom of this post.
Fagor LUX LCD Pressure Cooker – What’s New
The most significant change on the new LUX is the digital LCD screen. The LCD screen gives you more information about what’s going on inside the pot, and it has more cooking functions.
The 10 cooking functions on the Fagor Lux LCD Pressure Cooker are:
- Pressure Cooking
- Slow Cooking
- Steam
- Brown
- Sauté
- Simmer
- Grains
- Yogurt
- Eggs
- Dessert
In addition to the main cooking function most function also have sub menus.
For example the Grains function has pre-set cook times for White Rice, Brown Rice, Risotto, Barley and Quinoa. Each of which you can adjust. There are also custom setting that allows you to program and store your own cooking time.
The LCS screen is blue while the cooking program is being selected and it turns green once the cooking process has begun.
There are more than 33 Programs including Meat, Poultry, Vegetable, Beans, Soup, Risotto, Omelette and my favorite Cheesecake! Most of them found in sub menus.
One of the functions that intrigued me is the Simmer Function that you have to use with the lid on. Use it for soups and stocks that you want to stay just below the boiling point. The stock preset time is 45 minutes and the soup preset time is 55 minutes. So this would be a good option for making bone broth that is so popular.
The icons on the LCD screen are:
- Open/close lid icon – reminds you to open or close the lid depending on the function being used.
- Preheat icon – indicates that the unit is building pressure or temperature.
- Keep Warm icon – let’s you know when the keep warm function is on.
- Panel lock icon – indicates that the buttons are locked or unlocked – a nice feature if you have little ones at home
Inside the Pot
The LUX LCD comes with a stainless steel removable cooking pot instead of the non-stick finishes on the other LUX models. The stainless steel pot on this new LUX LCD is a beauty! I may have said ohhhhh when I pulled it out of the box. I prefer a stainless steel pot because I can scrub it clean, and I don’t have to worry about scratching when I’m stirring or using an immersion blender in the pot.
It comes with a V shaped trivet as well. (See photo above.)
A steamer basket is a must have accessory for the pressure cooker and Fagor has included one with the new LUX LCD. The steamer basket works well with the trivet, but the trivet isn’t as useful as the round trivets included with other pressure cookers, that I use for stacked cooking, like my pressure cooker creme brulee.
I tested the steamer basket by making my famous pressure cooker potato salad. It did a great job and I liked that the basket had handles so it was easy to remove from the pot.
There’s a little bit of a learning curve on using the dial. I prefer push buttons to dials, but I think if it was your only pressure cooker, you’d get use to the dial quickly.
A couple of other minor complaints. The float valve is inside the handle so it isn’t easy to see when the valve drops and it’s time to open the lid. Also, I had to turn off the pressure cooker instead of letting it go to the Keep Warm cycle because the beeping drove me crazy on some functions.
I like that the lettering on the pressure regulator knob is in white so it’s easy to read. The white lock unlock symbols on the pressure cooking housing are also easy to read.
Overall, the Fagor LUX LCD is a great pressure cooker, especially if you want to customize and save settings that you frequently use. It has all the functions that you’ll probably ever need.

Disclosure: I was sent a Fagor LUX LCD 6 Quart Multicooker to review, but all opinions expressed are always my own.

I loved my Fagor LCD Lux until it died after only 9 months. One day it worked and the next time I tried to use it everything seemed OK unit I realized it wasn’t getting warm. Display and everything is works as expected, just no heat. Fagor immediately responded to my email (they do not answer phones), but has been silent ever since I sent them the receipt and serial number. Apparently they don’t like handling warranty claims. I guess no matter how good the product is, if the company doesn’t support it nothing else matters. Instant Pot here I come…
Hi Charles – sorry to hear that. I know Fagor has gone out of business and Fagor America is rebranding as Zavor https://www.zavoramerica.com/ Perhaps reach out the them and see if you can get them to respond.
I have just purchased the Fagor Lux LCD 8 Quart based on reviews by America’s Test Kitchen. The pot is very good quality and performer. Can the Custom settings be changed to another setting as needed, and if so, how do you over ride your original custom settings?
This looks very interesting! I have the IP but find that I would like to make more than one thing at a time!! 🙂 I love that the steamer basket has handles on it on this one.
I’m saving up for a pressure cooker. I read and heard so many recipes it can do and would love to cut down on the time to cook meals.
I love pressure cooking. This pressure cooker looks amazing. Hope to own one soon.
My parents used the old fashioned stove top when I was a kid- scared the begeezus out of me and we were told to stay out of the kitchen while it was in use. I received my first electric as a gift…took me 6 months of walking around it sitting on my kitchen counter before I could bring myself to even take the lid off and check it out. Im so glad that I finally got up the nerve to check it out. What a timesaver!! I have just about worn this one out, would love to get a newer model. This one looks fabulous!
This sounds wonderful! Great review, would love to try your steel cut oatmeal recipes in it.
Great review! Very through and informative. Thanks again and have a great evening!
I absolutely love the new electric multi-cookers and own several with various sizes. My favorites are my two Insta-Pots, 6 and 8 Quart cookers. I have several sets of Fagor non-electric pressure cookers and am impressed with the Fagor quality. Your review of the 6 qt. Fagor Lux multi-cooker answered several questions I had about the programs. I cannot program and save on the Insta-pots. This is a great advantage with the Fagor product. Your review shows that it is a beautiful appliance as well as meeting most of my cooking needs.
Keep your stove top cookers – Our electric lasted 2.5 years – then just quit.
Great timing on these reviews. Are you able to say which one is your favorite? I have a Cuisinart that I loved, but it appears as though the electronics are going bad on it after having it less than a year. I am so disappointed, however other pots have so many more options that I would love to use, such as yogurt making and using it as a slow cooker. I am looking forward to my next pressure cooker and want to get the best one for me.
Hi Pam – Cuisinart was my first pressure cooker and I fell in love with pressure cooking because of it. That is disappointing it’s not working well after only a year. Right now the pressure cooker I reach for the most often is the IP Ultra because of the new pressure release. But I haven’t been disappointed in any of the pressure cookers I’ve reviewed. https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/category/review/ It’s just a matter of finding the price point you want, the size you want, with the features that are most important to you.
I can’t say enough about how I love pressure cooking now! Nothing to be afraid of. Having fun exchanging recipes with relatives & friends. Love to convert Italian & Croatian old time recipes. A wonderful way of cooking for quality!
Looks like another winner!
Thank you, Barbara!
Excellent description!
I really like the idea of the submenus, i.e. the different kinds of rice. Would make selecting the correct setting so much easier. I also like the fact that it comes in different sizes.
I have been using an Instant Pot. This pressure cooker has one feature that I really like. The option to save settings. Also the white lettering sounds appealing since I have problems with my eyes. Thank you for offering this pressure cooker!
Can I can 3 or 4 pints of salmon pour venison in it. That season is coming round and I is my fagor stove top pressure cooker for that.
I learned to use a pressure cooker from my mother, I’m going on 70. Yep, a long time. The difference in size is “great”, so many times we empty nesters have to adjust recipes.
Thank you for this opportunity.
Great review. Thanks for making this more understandable, compared to the regular pressure cookers. My fagor multi-cooker just died, Thanks for the chance to enter, fingers crossed.
Thanks for this interesting review! What is the max time you can set on this cooker ? I had to reset mine when I made a corned beef after an hour to add another 15 minutes or so.
Hi Carole – you can set it for 120 minutes.
Thank you for the review. I am excited for the variety of sizes. I also like the accessories, I have bought other brands and they won’t come with anything.
Thank you for the review…sounds very interesting & great that it comes in three sizes. Are we able to use “Manual” setting or must you choose one of the offerings & adjust time if desired? Also, I don’t see where there is a low/high pressure setting…I’ve never used pressure cooker where you couldn’t adjust from low to high… Thanks for the opportunity to win the pressure cooker. Can’t wait to see the lucky one… hoping 🙂 !
The Custom setting is similar to Manual on the Instant Pot and it allows you to select high or low pressure and up to 120 minutes. The default settings on Fish and Vegetables is low pressure. Thanks for the good question. Good luck!
This looks like a fantastic pressure cooker. I need to replace my stovetop pressure cooker, and come into this century. I am so afraid of the stovetop pressure cooker, I hardly ever use it. I’m going to do a little dance, in hopes I win the pressure cooker. It would make my life SO much easier! Thank you.
You definitely do 🙂 The electric pressure cookers are super easy and not scary. Good luck!
