Dumplings never were meant to be fluffy. My grandmother is rolling over in her grave from this sacrilege recipe. If you want fluffy, open a box of bisquick and have at it.

Sorry you didn’t like the dumplings. Do you live in a humid climate? Our climate is very dry, so maybe you just need a different flour to liquid ratio for your dumplings.

The ‘dumplings’ were doughy wet blobs – NOT light and NOT fluffy.  I don’t think dumplings can become fluffy in  a pressure cooker unless they are cooked pot-in-pot or after the chicken stew portion on simmer, like in a slow cooker.  This recipe might work better if refrigerated grands biscuits were cut up in place of the dumplings, but this recipe does not work as written and was a HUGE disappointment.

Thanks Mary! Yes, you can omit the tomato paste if you prefer. It is such a small amount, it does not give it a tomato paste flavor. It just adds some color and richness to the sauce.

Is it okay to leave it out? How strong is the flavor of tomato paste in it? Tomato paste just does not sound appealing mixed in with the other ingredients. Am I wrong about this?

I think this recipe screams for a video. I hope the two of you will create one for this recipe.
