Hi Patty, thank you for using our recipe. I am sorry the pork came out dry.

I would like to troubleshoot this with you.

Was the pork shoulder quite lean?

Was full natural release used as an opening method?

Was the meat tough after cooking?

Thank you!
Jacky

I made this recipe, following it to a tee.
The pork was dry and the orange totally fell apart which made it difficult to remove. The flavor had a slight bitterness possibly because I could not remove all the peel. If I made it again, I would not include the orange peel and I would cook it for less than the 50 minutes. I might mention that my pressure cooker is an Instantpot which I really love.

We prepared this tonight and oh my was it ever good -one of those dishes that makes owning a pressure cooker so worth the investment. The flavors seemed to compliment one another so well with the pork shoulder. This will be on the top of our favorites list.
Thanks again.

Hi Carol, thank you for giving this recipe a go!

You can use the saute function on the Cuisinart electric pressure cooker for medium heat in the instructions 🙂

Thank you!

I’ve just started cooking pork shoulders and am always looking for new recipes for them. Can’t wait to try yours. I have a Cuisinart electric pressure cooker-think I will I have to make any adjustments to the recipe? I don’t have the option of turning down heat. Thanks!

Thank you Liz!! If you don’t like bitterness, definitely replace it with orange zest 🙂

The bitterness does helps balance and enhance the dish. If you have time, try them both and see which one you like more!

Hi Barbara, thank you for the questions.

What kind of electric pressure cooker do you own? If it is an instant pot, you can click on Saute and the Adjust button twice to get to simmering mode.

Yes, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon can be used in place of a cinnamon stick. 🙂

Grapeseed oil is not necessary. It just pairs with pork very well and has a high smoking point. You can use olive oil instead 🙂
