Whilst available for mail order in the UK, the cost for 2 x 20 oz packets is £37 plus £22 delivery! $68! I’ve looked for a UK equivalent but cannot find one.

Hi Dominique – yes, you can make this in the slow cooker. Slow cook it for about 7 hours on high until the beans are tender. Then add the tomatoes, okra, chili powder, and Cajun seasoning packet and cook for an additional 30 minutes. Then stir in the lemon juice and browned sausage and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Thanks Kathy! Glad you enjoyed it. You can stir in some chicken or beef broth a little at a time until it’s the consistency you want. I like to reheat pot in pot https://www.pressurecookingtoday.com/how-to-use-the-pot-in-pot-method-in-your-pressure-cooker-instant-pot/

I’m not much of a cook. Is there anything I can do to salvage this? How do I make it soupy again

Hi Patricia – I haven’t tried cooking the rice with the beans after the quick soak, but you could give it a try. Be sure and add the additional 1 1/4 cups water as well as the rice. Let me know if you give it a try.

Hi Sally – I’ve added additional information after the asterisk in the notes section, what you can do if your beans need additional cooking time.

Do just cook th soup longer or go through the whole hour soak process again?

Definitely pick up some of Hurst beans and give them a try. I think you’ll be surprised how much you like okra in this recipe. Enjoy!
