I bought a new gasket for my big XL and had the same problem took it off and flipped it over and now it works great

Hi Genny – no electric pressure cooker has been approved for canning by the FDA. So to be on the safe side, I wouldn’t.

Hi Bonnie – when you turn the pressure release valve around in a circle, you can feel it rise up when it’s in the steam release position. You may want to put a dot of fingernail polish in that spot. As long as it’s not in the release position, it should build pressure, including when the notice is lined up with the arrow.

Hi Angela – was the new gasket specifically made for the XL, perhaps it’s just a little too big. Did you try your old gasket and see if it works?
